Supporting Sustainability, BCA Syariah Invites Journalists to Plant Trees
October, November 23, 2024 – In order to commemorate Indonesian Tree Planting Day which will be commemorated on November 28, PT Bank BCA Syariah (BCA Syariah) increases awareness of the environment and nature conservation by inviting approximately 40 journalists to carry out productive tree seedling planting activities, located in the Megamendung Organic Forest, Bogor, West Java (11/23/2024).
Tree planting is part of the implementation of BCA Syariah Peduli, namely in the pillar of social care, with a focus on community welfare through various social and environmental activities held in a series of Media Workshop 2025 activities in collaboration with the association of economic and Islamic banking journalists, JES (Journalist of Islamic Economics).
Support Sustainability - Head of BCA Syariah Retail and Consumer Business Work Unit Sumiar Bukit Mas Siahaan planted trees with fellow journalists as an act of BCA Syariah's concern for the environment and in the momentum of Indonesian Tree Planting Day on 11/28/24.
Head of BCA Syariah Retail and Consumer Business Unit Sumiar Bukit Mas Siahaan said, “This tree planting activity is a form of BCA Syariah’s concern for greening and preserving nature. We hope that this step can have a positive impact on the surrounding ecosystem and strengthen public awareness of the importance of nature conservation.”
As part of the tree planting activity, participants also received education from the Megamendung Organic Forest farmer group regarding the benefits of tree planting activities, especially for the surrounding environment. The productive tree seedlings planted this time were nutmeg, soursop and lime seeds. These types of seedlings were chosen because they have ecological and economic benefits for the community around the organic forest.
“With the strategic role of media partners as disseminators of useful information, the media can also spread the spirit of environmental preservation in their writings that can invite the public to participate in protecting the environment,” said Bukit.
As a form of contribution to the environment. BCA Syariah has planted 1,000 mangrove seedlings in the Semarang area and 1,000 productive durian tree seedlings in the Megamendung area, Bogor. Not only does it have an impact on the environment, this program is also expected to have an economic impact on the surrounding community because in its implementation, BCA Syariah collaborates with local community groups and third parties to provide education.
