BCA Syariah Awards 3 Women-Owned SMEs at WEpreneur Summit BCA Syariah 2023

Jakarta, June 12, 2023 – PT Bank BCA Syariah (BCA Syariah) awarded three participants of the WEpreneur program by BCA Syariah. The recognition was given to the program participants (Big Sistas) who successfully completed the series of activities over almost 1 year.

The awards were presented by the President Director of BCA Syariah, Yuli Melati Suryaningrum, virtually during the WEpreneur Summit 2023 on Monday, June 12, 2023. The three outstanding Big Sistas who received the awards are the founders of: Madu Onggu Arrissa Fauziarachman, Sanggar Mbah Guru Endang Dzunuraini, and Fragrande Mayang Adelia Puspita. The evaluation criteria for the best participants included online marketing activities, training activities for the local community, and financial reports throughout the WEpreneur program.

WEpreneur by BCA Syariah is part of the company's corporate social responsibility activities, BCA Syariah Cares for Prosperity. This initiative is aimed at improving financial literacy, packaged in empowerment programs and capacity building for women entrepreneurs engaged in SMEs.

The program recruits 15 female SME entrepreneurs with sustainable businesses, passion, and leadership qualities for coaching. The goal is to enable them to develop their business capacity and serve as inspiration for other women entrepreneurs in their communities.

Yuli Melati Suryaningrum stated, “We highly appreciate all the Big Sistas who participated in the WEpreneur by BCA Syariah program. We hope the various learnings from this program can be beneficial and applied by each Big Sista to enhance their business capacity. Additionally, don't hesitate to continue sharing the knowledge acquired with other female SME entrepreneurs, making them stronger and fostering sustainable growth.”

Female SMEs in Indonesia have also become a driving force for local economic growth. According to the World Bank, female SMEs contribute around 34% to Indonesia's Gross Domestic Product (GDP), and the participation of women in Indonesian SMEs continues to increase.

The presence of women in the business arena should be a concern for many. The WEpreneur BCA Syariah program helps female entrepreneurs achieve their goals while making a positive impact on their surroundings. Encouraging participation, strengthening communities, and eliminating barriers are key steps to ensuring greater growth and success for female SMEs in the future.

As of April 2023, the composition of BCA Syariah's SME financing is recorded at IDR 1.7 trillion or 22.75% of the company's total financing of IDR 7.6 trillion. Meanwhile, BCA Syariah's financing distribution in the sustainable business activity (KUB) sector is recorded at IDR 2.6 trillion or 34.61% of the total financing as of April 2023.
